The Kamal Hassan movie ‘Aalavandhan’ which was released in 2001 is the latest to join the list of Tamil movies to get digitally remastered. After releasing the digitally restored version of classic movies like Sivaji Ganesan movie ‘Karnan’ and MGR movie ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, it has become a trend in the industry to release the digitally remastered version of the super-hit movies of popular actors.
The Rajinikanth starrer ‘Baadsha’ which was digitized and released recently received an overwhelming response from the audience which encouraged many other similar attempts. The Kamal Haasan movie ‘Vetri Vizha’ was recently re-released and got a decent reception in the theatres. The latest movie to join the list is ‘Aalavandhan’ which was considered to be one of the important films in Kamal Haasan’s career.
The movie which was based on the novel ‘Dhaayam’ written by Kamal Haasan himself in 1984 was made into a movie with the actor doing a dual role. The movie was one of the ahead of its time attempt from Kamal Haasan and was also said to inspire a sequence from the Hollywood movie ‘Kill Bill’ directed by Quentin Tarantino.
‘Aalavandhan’ which was produced by Kalaipuli Dhaanu won the national award for the best visual effects for the year. The digitally remastered version of the movie is expected release in over 500 screens all over the world.
