Tamil Cinema has always welcomed bright and young talents in the industry. Especially in the last few years, we have witnessed a lot of young talents making it big. It must be said that the trend started with actor Dhanush who debuted in 'Thulluvatho Illamai'. The kind of success he attained in Kollywood gave a lot of hope for young talents. His success firmly established the fact that its not the looks, but the talent is what mattered. It encouraged many young filmmakers to cast new and upcoming heroes on the lead role.

Actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Sivakarthikeyan, Karthi, Jeeva and Vishal has created a brand of their own and has already evolved into leading stars in Kollywood. Below is a list of actors who have created a unique name for themselves through their acting and choice of movies.

Atharvaa Murali

The young and talented actor who made his debut with 'Baana Kaathadi' created a positive impact with his acting. His next movie 'Muppozhuthum Un Karpanayil' had him play a very challenging role which he did to perfection. Atharvaa also gained a very good reputation with the Bala directorial 'Paradesi'. His performance was much appreciated. Although Atharvaa is yet to witness a genuine hit, few of his movies like 'Kanithan' and 'Eeti' did a decent business at Box-Office. He is currently acting in 'Imaikkaa Nodigal', 'Semma Botha Aagatha' and yet an other film.

Attakathi Dinesh

The Koothupattarai actor who debuted in Pa.Ranjith film Attakathi, is yet another promising talent in Kollywood. His next film 'Cuckoo' in which he essayed the role of a blind person made every one to notice him for the performance. He also had a few hits in the form of 'Thamizhukku En Ondrai Azhuthavum' and 'Thirudan Police'. His movie 'Visaranai' directed by Vettrimaran was one of the most critically acclaimed movie in Tamil Cinema. Attakathi Dinesh also did a supporting role in Rajinikanth's 'Kabali'. Currently he has a handful of movies like 'Annanukku Jai', 'Ulkuthu' and few other films.

Vishnu Vishal

This cricketer turned actor made his debut with the film 'Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu' directed by Suseenthiran. Although he did a few other movies after that, it was the film 'Mundasupatti' which did well at Box-Office. His career then took a turn with movie like 'Jeeva', 'Indru Netru Naalai'. Vishnu Vishal also started his own production company with the film 'Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikkaran' which went on to become a super-hit. His film with Vijay Sethupathi title 'Idam Porul Yeaval' is awaiting its release for a long time. He also have a few movies in pipeline currently.

Jai Sampath

Actor Jai had a dream debut playing the role of Vijay's brother in the film 'Baghavathi'. After a long gap he appeared again as one of the lead in Venkat Prabhu's 'Chennai-28'. However, it was Sasikumar's 'Subramaniyapuram' which gained him the reputation as a promising actor in Tamil Cinema. Later the films 'Engeyum Eppothum' and 'Raja Rani' went on to become blockbusters of his career. Although his choice of movies is disappointing at times, he is surely one of the talent upcoming actor in Kollywood. He is currently looking forward for the release of 'Baloon'.

Gautham Karthik

Son of yesteryear actor Karthik, Gautham Karthik made his debut in Maniratham's directorial 'Kadal'. His next few films like 'Ennamo Yedho', 'Vai Raja Vai' and 'Muthuramalingam' were failure at the Box-Office. However he was recognized for his unique acting performances which got landed him on lead roles in movies like 'Rangoon' and 'Ivan Thanthiran'. His latest movie 'Hara Hara Mahadevaki' which is an adult comedy is proving to be a successful venture. He also has 'Oru Nalla Naala Parthu Sollu' with Vijay Sethupathi in pipeline.

Vikram Prabhu

Born in an family of cinema tradition, Vikram Prabhu made his acting debut in the film 'Kumki' directed by Prabhu Solomon. He then gained popularity among fans with some interesting choice of movies like 'Ivan Vera Maadhiri', 'Arima Nambi' and 'Sigaram Thodu'. Currently he is experiencing a little slump in his career as his last few movies didn't do quite well at the box-office. However, it must be noted that he is one of the good performer in recent times with and has a fan following of his own.

GV Prakash Kumar

The Music director turned actor is one of the recent sensation in Kollywood. Although his on-screen image is widely criticized by many, he is somewhat of a reflection of current generation youngsters. This image has struck a chord with the teenagers and young movie fans which is attributed to be the reason for his success. However the GV Prakash Kumar must not be ruled out as a performer as he is capable of some intense character roles as well. This was well identified by director Bala who has casted him in his upcoming movie 'Naachiyaar' where he acts along side Jyothika.
